EMPATHETICS LAUNCHES NEW
ACCREDITED ONLINE EMPATHY EDUCATION FOR HEALTHCARE
New edition approved for Physician and Nurse, Medical Education,
Risk Management and End-of-Life Care Credits

BOSTON, MA, March 31, 2022 – Empathetics, the first and only Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) empathy education solution based on a rigorous randomized controlled trial (RCT), announced a newly redesigned edition of empathy education courses today. This offering comes at a critical time for Healthcare and other industries suffering from COVID-19-related challenges and The Great Resignation. The new credit bearing courses for physicians and nurses have been divided into shorter modules to address busy schedules and learner constraints.
“A medical director in a large multi-state practice recently told me, ‘we’re facing a crisis of attrition and incivility,’” said Dr. Helen Riess, CEO, Empathetics. “This is being felt across geographies and industries, though healthcare is probably feeling it more than anyone. Our courses can help organizations find stability and resilience to weather the challenges and get back to doing great work.”

To accommodate challenging schedules and different learning habits, Empathetics’ courses have all been divided into 20-minute modules. This enables doctors, nurses, clinical aides, administrators and front-line staff to fit the learning into their lives. The courses are modified Section 8 compliant for learners with disabilities.

The new CME- and CEU-accredited edition incorporates critical updates, such as the inclusion of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)- sensitive content.

“Representing people from diverse backgrounds and addressing implicit and explicit bias has a direct effect on empathic experience and communication,” said Dr. Riess. “Let’s not forget that more than 80% of malpractice claims originate in miscommunication. This highlights the importance of learning skills that allow us to connect with a wide range of people in a variety of difficult situations.”

Empathetics’ training helps learners not only better understand and develop empathic skills for interpersonal situations with people who are not like them in background, temperament or situation, but also develop self-empathy, ensuring that they can move through home and work situations with greater ease and fulfillment.

“Self-empathy is often overlooked in professional development and resilience training,” continued Dr. Riess. “But this is the foundation from which everything else flows. If you are not well taken care of, it’s very difficult to work with and assist others in their challenges.”
